Birding at Bear Head (May 15th, 2010 - Sep 4th, 2010)

Every Saturday from May 15 through September 4, 7-9 AM. Meet at the park office for a guided walk in the park listening and looking for the variety of bird species within the park. Bring your own binoculars or a limited number will be available for checking out. Dress for the weather, bug spray recommended.

Tower Farmer's Market (May 21st, 2010 - Oct 22nd, 2010)

Produce and handcrafted items. 2 - 6 PM each Friday.

Cook Area Farmer's Market (Jul 3rd, 2010 - Sep 25th, 2010)

8 AM - 1 PM. All items produced within 30 miles of Cook. Honey, wild rice, seasonal vegetables & berries, soaps and more.

Breakfast with the Bears (Aug 4th, 2010)

This is a limited time opportunity to experience a morning breakfast with the bears.  Share your quiet morning period watching the early morning dew sparkle on the backs of our morning bears visiting the sanctuary.  We've developed this program as a chance to see different bears that only frequent the sanctuary in the early morning hours.  This is a favorable occasion to gain photos using early morning light.  Come and join us for a superb continental breakfast and watch early dawn bear activity from the safety and comfort of our viewing deck.

124th St. Louis County Fair (Aug 4th - 8th, 2010)

The "Five Best Days of Summer" Traditional fair exhibits, midway rides, entertainment. Bullriding and draft horse pull.

Music with Horse Raddish Creek (Aug 6th, 2010)

7-9 PM Enjoy the toe-tapping tunes of Horse Raddish Creek, as they play acoustic Americana favorites. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and dress for the weather. Meet at the beach picnic shelter.

Batty About Bats (Aug 7th, 2010)

7:30-9:30 PM  Join us in search for these "creatures of the night" and learn their special adaptations and abilities. The evening includes games, songs, activities, and the chance to see the bats begin their nightly search for food. Meet at the Park's back entry. The program is held outside, so dress appropriately. 218-753-2245

In the Shadow of Bears - Yoga and Meditation (Aug 7th, 2010)

Experience yoga as it was originally intended by getting out of the studio and into a natural setting.Find your inner doorway to the natural rhythms of nature by practicing yoga and meditation and becoming one with the shadows of the normally reclusive black bear.  Surround yourself with bears and awaken your senses, enhance your focus, and reconnect to the natural world.

Geocaching 101 (Aug 10th, 2010)

6:30-8 PM  Learn about the sport of geocaching. The program answers questions about the sport, including how to use a GPS, how to find caches, and proper caching etiquette. The program begins at the visitor center. Limited number of GPS units available. The program takes place inside and outside, so dress appropriately.

11:00 Am - 2:00 PM  Have your child's picture taken with an EMT, Firefighter, Ambulance, or Fire Truck.  Live music by Second Chance.  Concessions available.  Jaws of Life Demonstration at 1 PM.  Free fun and educational items for kids.

Bears in Figure and Form Drawing Class (Aug 23rd, 2010)

This unique outdoor drawing class is open to all levels of skills and is suitable for all ages who want to improve their drawing skills and learn more about the form and function of the black bear.  Different drawing styles will be explored using a wide range of media.  Some of the things class participants will learn is how to equip themselves for an outdoor session, how to sketch quickly to avoid possible problems nature may bring, how to transfer a landscape or scene onto paper, etc.

71st Annual Embarrass Regional Fair (Aug 27th - 29th, 2010)
