Arrowhead TrailThis trail is maintained by the Minnesota DNR. It is the backbone to an extensive Grant-in-Aid trail system that travels through remote areas and provides access to snowmobile trails within Voyageurs National Park and throughout the area. Trail begins at the Taconite Trail just south of Lake Vermilion and travels 135 miles north to International Falls. |
Auro-bi TrailTrail is maintained locally. It is a spur trail from Aurora to Biwabik. |
Bearskin TrailMaintained by the Cook Timberwolves snowmobile club. The trail runs south and west from Cook. |
Chisholm-Side Lake Trail |
Iron Ore TrailMaintained by the Vermilion Penguins snowmobile club. The trail runs from Tower and the Taconite trail south to the Taconite Spur trail. |
Lake Vermilion State ParkThe new state park has added some temporary snowmobile trails (trails may change in future years) for this winter. The trails take you through some of the best viewing areas on the property. It connects up with the Lake Vermilion lake ice trail and a spur of the Taconite Trail that goes through Soudan Underground Mine State Park. |

Laurentian TrailThe Laurentian Snowmobile Trail provides entry onto the Taconite Trail System and access to more than 2,000 miles of trails. Parking is available. |
Pequaywan TrailThe 43 mile Hoyt Lakes-Pequaywan Trail is a locally groomed trail. Snowmobilers will go through forests, cross over rivers, and pass various mines as they travel from Hoyt Lake to the North Shore State Trail. |
Putnam & Fishing Lakes TrailThis trail is maintained by the Minnesota DNR. |
Staked Lake TrailsIce depth is checked along 55 miles of staked trails across Lake Vermilion. Stakes are placed every tenth mile. There are maps at entry points and intersections. The Cook Timberwolves maintain 18 miles on the west end, and the Vermilion Penguins stake 37 miles on the east end of the lake. |

Taconite Spur TrailConnects the Taconite to the Laurentian trail. |
Taconite TrailThis trail is maintained by the Minnesota DNR. It extends 165 miles west from Ely to Grand Rapids. |
Tomahawk TrailThis trail extends 80 miles from Ely to the North Shore of Lake Superior.The new reroute of the Tomahawk Trail was completed on Wednesday, November 30th, 2012. This new trail will be on high ground and can be used year round by snowmobiles and ATV's. This will help tremendously in grooming costs and will be a better trail. The 8 mile trail will avoid swamps and rough terrain which have been very difficult to groom in the past. This trail goes from Nickle Lake (end of Spruce Road) to August Lake and brings you to the Mattila Shelter.
